LANDLORD/TENANT STAFF ATTORNEY

Community Legal Services of Prince George’s County, Inc., is seeking a full-time Staff Attorney to assist with its Failure to Pay Rent Tenant Representation Program which provides free, same-day and general rent court representation to low-income tenants in Prince George’s County landlord/ tenant court. We are seeking someone who is fun and energetic, with a passion for helping low-income and underserved individuals receive access to legal representation. This is a full-time, 1-year appointment, which will require in-person court appearances.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Providing court representation to tenants at their Failure to Pay Rent and other landlord/ tenant hearings
  • Providing legal advice to tenants with questions about their cases and their legal rights
  • Answering phone calls and assisting with intakes
  • Preparing grant reports/ grant writing (experience not required)
  • Updating legal case tracking system with case information

SKILLS:

  • Ability to Work independently and collaborate with others
  • Ability to multi-task and manage cases, intakes, and client calls

BENEFITS:

FULL-TIME STAFF ATTORNEY

Community Legal Services of Prince George’s County, Inc., is seeking a full-time Staff Attorney to provide legal advice and limited representation through our Family Law clinic for the Self-Represented. Legal matters include family law, domestic violence, guardianship of disabled adults, and small claims. We are seeking someone who is fun and energetic, with a passion for helping low-income and underserved individuals receive access to legal representation. This positition is contingent on grant funding.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assisting clients with filling out court forms
  • Providing legal advice to self-represented litigants with questions about their cases and their legal rights
  • Answering phone calls and assisting with intakes
  • Updating legal case tracking system with case information
  • Coordinating community outreach and trainings

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed in Maryland (or the ability to waive in).
  • Preferred: One to two years of litigation experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to do detail-oriented work and manage competing tasks.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others
  • Ability to multi-task and manage cases, intakes, and client calls

FULL-TIME STAFF LEGAL ASSISTANT

Community Legal Services of Prince George’s County, Inc., is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to staff our Upper Marlboro Family Law clinic for the Self-Represented. We are seeking someone who is fun and energetic, with a passion for helping low-income and underserved individuals receive access to legal representation.

JOB DUTIES

  • Answering phone calls and assisting with client intakes
  • Placing client cases with attorneys for brief advice and representation
  • Updating legal case tracking systems with case information
  • Managing, organizing and maintaining documents in paper and electronic filing systems
  • Coordinating community outreach and trainings

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated ability to do detail-oriented work and manage competing tasks
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others
  • Ability to multi-task and manage cases, intakes, and client calls

BENEFITS
