• Lawyer Referral Program

  Persons with civil legal matters in Prince George's County may apply for a lawyer to represent them. Clients are screened for income eligibility and the facts of the case are reviewed.

  Staff members speak English and Spanish. Proof of financial eligibility is required. Legal matters handled include divorce, custody, visitation, guardianship, wills, bankruptcy chapter 7, defense of suits in tort or contract, some landlord-tenant cases, etc. A fee of $25 - $35 is required for processing an application.

• Foreclosure Prevention Program

  Our Foreclosure Prevention Program seeks to assist homeowners at risk of losing their homes due to foreclosure with an opportunity to maintain their home. Volunteer attorneys will help eligible homeowners with loss mitigation, including negotiations of payments, forbearance, and/or modification plans.

• Bankruptcy Program

  We refer bankruptcy cases to volunteer attorneys. We handle Chapter 7 only. A fee of $25 is required for processing an application. Clients must meet Maryland Legal Services Corporation income guidelines (calculated on 50% of Maryland median household income). Income is based on the average monthly income for the previous six months. Client's assets must be less than $2,000.00 not including residential house equity. Clients may not own real property other than the residence in which they or their spouse resides.
