Attorneys
We refer pro bono and reduced fee cases to volunteer attorneys. The majority of cases handled are family law cases. CLS periodically provides free legal training to volunteer attorneys in some areas of law. Attorneys who represent CLS clients have access to Lexis Nexis, liability insurance, mentoring, recognition in our monthly column in the Prince George ’s Bar Journal News, and some of our most outstanding attorneys are nominated for recognition at our Annual Awards ceremonies, as well as for state-wide awards. For more information about our Lawyer Referral Program, please contact Earlette L. Toomer at 301-864-4907, ext. 12 or Darielys Pinto at ext. 11.

The Special Education Project
The Children Education Project in Prince George’s County was established to help address the education needs of our most vulnerable children. It was initiated by the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland in conjunction with Community Legal Services of Prince George’s County, Inc., Maryland Disability Law Center, and the Office of the Public Defender.
Pro Bono lawyers will receive free training to represent students in special education matters and/or school discipline and withdrawal cases (e.g. suspension and expulsion cases) with the goal of keeping children in school with appropriate educational services. Questions about this program should be referred to Ernesto S. Pineda at 301-864-4907, ext. 18.
Interpreters
We provide free training for volunteer Interpreters!
Interpreters will work on a one-on-one basis with an attorney and a client in an informal legal setting. Interpreters will interpret preliminary and follow-up meetings with the attorney and client at the attorney's office. Interpretations may also be done by telephone. This is an excellent opportunity for the interpreter to gain legal exposure and launch a legal career! Medium to high fluency in Spanish and desire to assist the Latino community is a must.
